Hailes Quarry Park wins its first Green Flag!

After five years of hard work by volunteers, the local community, the City of Edinburgh Council and ELGT, we are delighted that Hailes Quarry Park has been awarded its first Green Flag!

The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best greenspaces in the country and Hailes Quarry Park can proudly boast to being one of the most improved in the neighbourhood.

The greenspace improvement project began in 2006 and the first stage of the project saw drainage, paths and woodland improvements all improved and dog bins and benches installed. In addition to this, in the past 5 years a children’s play area, climbing wall, bike track, learning discovery area and hermit’s head eco-sculpture have been added.

Alongside the improvements, the Trust delivers a programme of regular community engagement activities and events, creating a greenspace which is a safe and welcoming place for healthy living, exercise, enjoyment and recreation.
