Chinese lanterns light up Harrison Park (East)

Last Saturday evening we were treated to an unexpected treat in Harrison Park, with the installation of Chinese Lanterns by Napier University art student Jing Shi.

Jing told me that the idea behind the project, called Link, was to encourage greater appreciation of Chinese culture and inter-cultural dialogue. Passers by we’re even invited to construct their own miniature lanterns and place an LED in them, before posting them into a special case with a transparent front.

I’m a big fan of outdoor and impromptu art in natural places – something we’d love to see more of in and around the Innertube routes. If you spot something going on near you, let us know!
