A90 cycle path upgrade – your views sought

The City of Edinburgh Council, in partnership with Sustrans and Transport Scotland, is developing a scheme to enhance the pedestrian and cycle path that parallels the A90 between the Burnshot and Dalmeny junctions. They are improving the path in five sections (see the plan) and are currently developing designs for Sections 2 and 3 which they plan to have constructed in early 2015.  The work in Sections 2 and 3 will involve widening and resurfacing of the existing path to provide a high-quality shared path.

A90 path upgrade

Some path users have commented about the problem of vehicle headlight glare on the path.  This glare mainly affects path users travelling in the northbound direction along Section 3 and potentially some of Section 4.

The council are now consulting path users to determine the extents of this potential problem and to receive feedback on design options – if you use the path, please let them know your views and thoughts.

    Hi,
I’m about to buy a bike with the intention of cycling to work, Stockbridge
to Dunfermline. I just wondered with regards to the work being done on
cycle lane next to A90, do you have a route to suggest as the work being
done seems to block off a usual route?
    Thanks
    Joe
